Hot air balloon flights from Evesham over Worcestershire
Nestled in the vale of Evesham, the Wood Norton Hotel is a great base for exploring the Cotswolds – and a great hot air balloon launch site for Cotswold Balloon Safaris.
As the magnificent Grade II listed mansion house recedes, we head up and out from the base of the valley and drift down the River Avon towards Evesham itself. It’s a charming market town – and from up here – you can see all the hustle and bustle of life in miniature.
Now the adventure really begins. It’s time to climb a little higher, so we can take in some charming Cotswold villages. Depending on the wind direction we’ll drift over Ashton-under-Hill, Sedgeberrow, Wickhamford, or northwards towards Church Lench and Bideford-on-Avon.
With all these quaint little villages, market towns and rolling countryside, the Vale of Evesham is the quintessential English landscape. Even if you’ve lived in the Cotswolds all your life, you’ll get such a fresh perspective on it from up here. You can see how all those little settlements fit together. How roads and streams connect the landscape like arteries.
You’ll get a real sense of history too. If we head north towards Alcester we’ll see the earthworks of the ancient Britons. We’ll see distinctive Roman landscaping features too. And we’ll certainly see some of the region’s most famous places – tourist attractions like the market towns like Broadway and Chipping Camden.
“Steeped in history, this is a beautiful part of the Cotswolds – and best seen from about 2,000 feet up!” Captain Mike.
